Are you ready? There’s a new decade coming in a few days. Did you make your New Year’s resolutions? Not yet? Don’t worry, I’m not ready either my sweet friend. I’m still buried under Christmas decorations, but I’m gradually making my way out of the eggnog fog.
I’ve seen no small amount of bullet journals, organizers, and Instagram posts that are promising me the best year yet. Well, actually I’m not buying it. I’m pretty sure I have a zillion journals that are unused. In fact, instead of buying an organizer for $30, I started going through my bookshelves so I could donate a few items and declutter my shelves. Lo and behold, I found two beautiful unused journals. I’ll be using one for my vision planning this year. Problem solved!
As much as I want to believe that a fancy new organizer will make my life more organized, the truth is a fancy organizer would just languish in the dust and be a waste of money. Real motivation for change has to come from somewhere inside, from what really matters to you, and not coming from a place to impress others or beat yourself up for not being perfect or good enough.
Real change starts with true love. So start with loving yourself, flaws and all, and think about what really matters to you this year.
I exchanged resolutions for goals long ago and it has put such a positive spin on the new year. I plan what I want more of, not less. I envision what kind of person I want to be and the kind of people I want my children to grow into. For me, my physical health is defined by being able to run around and chase my kids on the beach, not my jean size. Once Christmas is packed away, I spend this time of year reflecting on my goals- what I’ve accomplished, where I’ve been, and where I’m heading. I carve out time for creating an annual vision board and setting new goals for the year every year. I’m hopeful the next decade will bring joy, peace, and prosperity.
This year I’m so excited that one of my goals is to help guide you to whatever matters to you the most. Life is too short to waste your precious time or money on things that don’t matter or don’t accelerate you to your best life. I’m working on something big- The Ultimate Guide!
